Major Renovations in the Main Gym

September 2024

Dear Members,

The Ballard Health Club is successful because it provides a very broad range of exercise functions for our Ballard community.  I do believe one of the most prevalent and important exercise functions we offer in our club is using dumbbells. I have wanted to improve the dumbbell area for many years and jumped on the chance of having them in their own special space in Studio Z once we stopped using the studio for deadlifting.

So a couple of weeks ago, we moved the dumbbells into Studio Z. After the excitement of thinking we have greatly improved another area / function of the Club, several members informed me they were not as crazy about the move as I thought they would be. Based on that feedback, we came up with a plan to greatly improve the area we are now using for dumbbells. This will include tearing down and opening up 2 walls of Studio Z.  We will start preparing the area around Studio Z on Wednesday, September 4th and will start the actual demolition of the walls on Saturday, September 7th.

Check out the details of the project here > www.ballardhealthclub.com/articles/tear-down-that-wall.

In addition to the project stated above, there are a few other improvements in the works:

1.  We now have 2 Olympic bench presses on order and on the way. These will be placed in the corner vacated by the dumbbell equipment.

2.  We have also just added an additional Freemotion CoachBike.

3.  We are working to retrofit new locks for both locker rooms. These are simple to use member locks where the member sets their own 2-digit code (a letter and a number).

4.  We are working with a bike rack company to come up with a solution for bike racks in our breezeway.

5.  We will be enhancing Studio Y to provide more circuit training stations for circuit classes like the Senior Circuit class that is moving from Studio X to Studio Y.

If it seems like we are always working to improve what BHC offers it’s members, that is because we are doing just that, performing continual improvements. I believe it is the only way of operating a business like Ballard Health Club and to do our best to provide the best exercise environment in our Ballard community.

See you at the Club!
