Class Transitions
July 28, 2021
Happy August!!! We are in the season when visiting family and friends tend to tell us that we live in the most beautiful part of the country, and I’d have to agree. I hope you’re all taking the time to get out there and experiencing the beauty that surrounds you! Here at BHC, we are continually working on helping you access the beauty that lives within you.
During this past year, Pat, our fearless leader and dependable optimist, has done an amazing job adjusting the gym to go above and beyond Covid safety standards to keep our members comfortable and safe when coming into the gym. The great success of the proof-of-vaccination wristbands is perfect evidence of this. There was also some moving of equipment to spread out members and training, and that’s where I come in. All of our class studios, Studio X, Studio Y, and Cycling, have been allocated for use by our trainers and class instructors for Small Group Training, Personal Training, and a Virtual Studio for instructors who wanted to take their class out of their living-rooms! We are now in the process of bringing back the studios for class use, and that’s going to take a little bit of time.
Currently we’ve cleared enough equipment in Studio Y to accommodate Taylor’s Zumba class on Friday evenings, and we have plans to have it cleared out completely to bring yoga back into the studio come September. We’re also working on getting Studio X available for Body Pump and other fitness classes.
There have been so many changes in the past 18 months for all of us. Thank you for being adaptable with us. I will be doing my best to return us to a dependable in-studio schedule, as well as keeping some Virtual classes. Our instructors’ lives have shifted as well, and not everyone is able to come back into the studio for various reasons. I will be navigating all of this to give you the best possible options.
This month you will see a few class cancelations due to low attendance. We’re taking this opportunity to regroup. Typically we would replace the classes we cancel, but we think this is an opportunity to get some perspective as to which classes should be moved into the studios and which classes should remain online. The hybrid style of class (both live and virtual) has been challenging for both members and instructors (Aurora is doing this currently on Tues and Thurs, tell us what you think!). We will be taking this month to evaluate this process. Thank you to those of you that filled out the questionnaire in last month's newsletter. That information was really helpful, and for anyone who missed it, you’re still able to fill it out! Here is the LINK. We really do care about your ability to keep yourself healthy, mind and body, and know that a good workout routine is a big part of that. Like all things, taking a step back to get perspective can help us see where we need to make changes so we can continue to grow. I’m hoping come this Fall, we’ll have all taken a moment to see the beauty that surrounds us as well as the beauty within us, and are ready to make a plan we can commit to for our health and well-being.
