New Deadlift Studio and Yoga in the Park
June 2, 2022
Dear Members,
I believe we have settled into a life with COVID moving forward. I know more people that have had COVID than have not, and I am very thankful that those people have recovered well when so many others did not have the same outcome. What we have learned about COVID is the healthier the individual is, the better the defense against the virus. We are here to help you build that defense.
It’s been nice to see members getting quite a bit of use out of our new pull bars we installed in the main part of the club, along with the rope climb that was installed with them.
We have finished our deadlift platforms and have placed them in Studio Z, which is near the Locker room entrances. We have enhanced the air flow in that studio and it is now sharing the air conditioning from Studio X. We are adding an additional weight tree with a pair of 55lb calibrated Rogue weights to complement the assortment of weights that are in that studio now. This is to allow deadlifts of over 500lbs, as these calibrated weights are much thinner than the urethane coated ones and more plates can be added to a bar. And yes, this was requested by a member that just could not get enough weight on the bar. We also added a Rogue women’s IWF Olympic Weightlifting Bar to the room along with smaller-in-diameter change weights. The women’s IWF bar was also a request from one of our members, who made the request using our new suggestion form at: www.ballardhealthclub.com/suggestion. Having this well-equipped designated deadlift area attracts members who are into deadlifting, and also moves the noise related to deadlifting away from the general area of the gym.
The parking enforcement in the Chase bank lot has been going overboard lately and has ticketed several of our members' cars incorrectly. We have paid to have use of the lot at any time the bank is not open. If you received a parking ticket and have a non-expired BHC parking permit and the ticket was issued outside of Chase banking hours – please submit the ticket to our front desk and we will get it forgiven.
With the sun finally out, it does feel like summer is just about here. It’s great to be able to provide another summer of Yoga in the Park for the Ballard community. We started using Sunset Hill Park for this last summer and it was a great hit. We look forward to the same vibe this Summer. Thank you very much Karen Gamble (our wonderful Class Director) for making this happen again this year!
Stay Safe!
