J is for June, July, and Joy

Dear Members,
We have enjoyed some pretty spectacular weather so far this summer. Members are getting outdoors and enjoying what the Northwest has to offer. That has meant larger crowds than ever for Yoga in the Park at Sunset Hill Park. We have expanded the opportunity for bliss to three days a week this year and the community has responded enthusiastically.
Seafood Fest is coming up in July. Please join our own Maria at the Mainstage on Sunday, July 16 for an outdoor Zumba class. Speaking of Maria, we will be sorry to see her leave BHC. She will teach her last Zumba class in Studio Y on Saturday, July 8. Please join us in wishing her well as she and her daughter pursue wonderful new opportunities for their family.
There has been indoor excitement as well, of course. Participants who attended MJ’s Summer Solstice Restorative Yoga and Sound Bath workshop were thrilled to experience the new and improved Studio Y together, many of them for the first time.. Along with savoring the joy of gathering with longtime friends, people loved MJ’s gentle practice and appreciated the excellent acoustics in Studio Y. Please watch for news about the next workshop that we can get MJ to schedule. We hope to host these happy events on a regular basis.
On the last day of June our Silver Sneakers class returned to our beloved Leif Erikson Hall. We feel grateful to our temporary hosts at Crown Hill Center. We are also delighted to be back, especially since the new HVAC system there provides refreshing air conditioning for our summer classes.
BHC showed its Pride by offering Pride-themed classes in June. Emily’s “Big Gay June” Pom Squad and Anne-Marie’s Pride Ride were particularly popular.
As always, we plan to add to our class schedule in the fall. We are eager to hear your suggestions and requests. Our goal is to help you achieve your fitness goals, improve your health, and find joy in the process.
