Less Stress, More Exercise!
Here we go again - eating season, better known as the holiday season. If an extra helping of everything isn't enough to get you into class, then let's talk about stress and your body. Stress can make you breathe harder, increase your heart rate, produce hormones that affect your adrenal gland and liver functions, and impact your digestion from your esophagus to elimination - but let's not go there. Instead, let's make a plan for this season and stay consistent. If you don't already have a routine, then begin one. It's not too late.
We take on 'extra' during the holiday season, whether it's buying, baking, getting together with added engagements, time management, deadlines, traffic, travel - all of it will require your attention and energy. This 'extra' doesn't have to be as stressful as it sounds. I wish that the pumpkin pie would supply enough energy to sustain me through a family gathering, or get me through the day after the office holiday party. There are benefits that come from enjoying good food, but my healthy nervous system (conditioned with a regular routine of exercise, quiet time or meditation, hearty laughter, and community) is what is going to get me through four hours of eating so I can get out of bed the next morning ready to enjoy another day of ...eating? ...work? ...shopping? ... whatever you will do on that Friday.
Think of making it to your favorite class regularly as conditioning for your body and your life.
We're offering two classes on Thanksgiving Day so you can take care of your body; I'm hoping whatever you do that day will take care of your heart and soul. We'll have a Cardio Mix class at 9am and Yoga at 10am. YOU WILL NEED A KEY FOB - if you don't already have one, the stop by the front desk and they will set you up.
I'll see you in class!
