Quality versus Quantity at BHC
02/28/2023
Hi Members,
We do not put a lot of effort into marketing at BHC. You don’t see billboards, tons of social media ads or TV spots advertising the Club. There are just a few ways people get to know about us. Our website, social media reviews, our sign at the beginning of the breezeway, and members telling others about the Club.
Our membership is more “quality” than “quantity” and that makes it more enjoyable, valuable and comfortable with our existing members and staff. As the full-time General Manager and the person that owns 100% of the Club, there is not the intense pressure from outside ownership to do everything possible to squeeze more and more bodies into the facility, which is the norm in the fitness industry.
We have had “Friendly Fridays” for several years now at BHC and that’s where you may bring a friend for free to the gym or to a class (in-studio or virtual) on Fridays. We have continued to include that feature with both Basic and PLUS memberships, but we extended the benefit as of January for PLUS members of being able to bring a friend on Saturdays and Sundays as well. If you looked at a chart of the number of people at the Club during the week, you would see that the busiest day is Monday and then numbers reduce each day until you get to the least busy day, Sunday. This is why we use Friday, Saturday, and Sunday as the free guest days.
With the important method of attaining new members by word of mouth, the thought is that those friends you bring on the long weekend are great candidates to become members in addition to adding a great new benefit to the PLUS membership.
Another thing that makes the PLUS membership valuable is the unlimited access to all the classes we offer at BHC. And this month, we have added more classes than any other month since pre-COVID times. This really shows the energy that has been growing at BHC for the past several months.
We are blessed with an array of great class instructors that are all part of this energy you feel when you participate in a class at BHC.
Thank you for being a member of BHC. I look forward to seeing you soon!
Sincerely,
Pat Gilbrough
