Saying Goodbye to Hattie and Jake and Parking Lot Change Coming
July 2, 2022
Dear Members,
This month we will be saying goodbye to Hattie Quick and Jake Burkey. The two of them, with their daughter Aeyla, are moving to the East Coast to be closer to family with another baby on the way. In addition to both Hattie and Jake being Certified Personal Trainers, and working at the front desk over the past several years, Hattie has been our Operations Manager and Jake has been the club’s Facilities Manager.
With Hattie and Jake’s departure, Ivana Petro has become our new Operations Manager and Chris Hope our new Facilities Manager. Hattie and Jake have done a great job getting Ivana and Chris trained and ready to take their place as managers. Both Ivana and Chris are already making a big impact in their new positions. Hattie and Jake will continue to work with BHC remotely in areas that do not require them to physically be at the club. Hattie will also continue to do her virtual classes from the East Coast. They have both been a very important part of the BHC family for many years now and we will certainly miss their presence at the club. While it is tough to see them go, we wish them the best in the next stage of their lives on the East Coast!
Membership at the club is growing each month as BHC continues to recover from the long COVID experience. We are the only club in the area that requires our members to be 100% vaccinated, and I continue to feel that it is in the best interest of our members. The vaccination policy and the fresh air systems we have throughout our facility provide the safest environment we can offer for our members to attend classes and/or workout.
We have seen a great deal of development in Ballard over the past few years - mainly in new apartment complexes. That development is now coming closer to home with half of our Market Street block slated to become a 7-story apartment building. The new apartment complex will be built on the West end of our block (where the big fire was in 2019) with groundbreaking starting late summer or early fall. The Club itself will not be affected by the development, but our main BHC parking lot will be absorbed into the new apartment complex. With that said, we will soon be announcing a new location for parking to replace the main BHC lot. Parking privileges at our second lot at Chase bank will not change. We retain the ability to have our members park at the Chase lot outside of banking hours, provided they have a BHC parking permit shown on their car when parked there.
Enjoy your summer and be safe!
