Update from Ballard Health Club – Moving on to Phase 2 of the Reopening Plan

February 1, 2021

Dear Members,

Last Thursday, the Governor announced that our region, (which includes King, Snohomish and Pierce counties), may move on to Phase 2 of the “Healthy Washington - Roadmap to Recovery” as of February 1st. This was a big surprise because in prior announcements from the Governor, we needed to meet 4 specific goals in order to proceed from Phase 1 to Phase 2. Now we only need to meet 3 of 4 of the metric goals.

The regulations for Phase 2 state that gyms may allow up to 25% occupancy of their fire code limit. Our fire code limit is 176 for the main gym and that would mean our maximum occupancy is 44 for Phase 2. Considering the current status of COVID-19, and the cleaning, disinfecting and spacing procedures we have established for our Club to keep our members as safe as possible, we have decided to limit members at the Club at 21 versus 44 at this time. This will allow 7 members for Cardio Open Sessions and 14 members for Strength Open Sessions. All of our Open Sessions will increase in duration with most going to 75 minutes.

The Open Session schedule with the new expanded sessions will start Wednesday, Feb 3rd. You may go online and book these sessions by using My BHC from our home page, on our Gym Access web page or by using the MindBody App.

As time moves on, and the metrics for COVID-19 significantly improve, we will expand the maximum number of people that are able to come to the Club at any one time.

We will be re-opening our Small Group Training sessions soon with our new Phase 2 status. As soon as we establish a schedule, these sessions will be available by visiting the Small Group Training web page.

Our Virtual Live Streaming Classes continue to be popular. We have added an additional Virtual Pilates Mat class on Sundays at 11am taught by Elizabeth Young. Please visit the Live Streaming Classes web page to view the schedule of our classes.

As more and more of us get vaccinated and the numbers used to indicate our progress improves, we now look forward to the day of putting this pandemic behind us.

Stay safe!
