Amanda Mack
Yoga Instructor
Amanda Mack’s first yoga teacher was her aunt when she was a little girl in Minot, ND. In a church basement in 1979, her vision of someday becoming a yoga teacher was born. However, it wasn’t until twenty years later that she really became a student of yoga. Her primary teachers have been Alison Rubin in Spokane, WA, Karen Greenwood and Lynne Minton in Anchorage, AK and Sarahjoy Marsh in Portland, OR. From them, she learned traditional hatha yoga with its roots very much grounded in ancient India as opposed to a more fitness-focused teaching style more common in the west. From them, she also found a passion for teaching her students yoga philosophy and the more therapeutic application of yoga.
In her classes, Amanda invites students to bring a beginners mind to their practice each time they step onto their mats letting go of judgment of self and others. In each session, her goal is for students to experience the integration of mind and body and perhaps access to something more - spirit, one’s highest self, or whatever you might call it. In the midst of our demanding, information-saturated days, our bodies need increased strength, flexibility and endurance and our minds need time to soften, let go, and reconnect with what is important - this breath, this moment. Her students find her classes inviting, challenging and layered with meaning.
