December Free Class
Each month BHC offers a FREE pass to a specific class. There is no membership required to participate in this virtual class. This month we invite everyone to try out Virtual Total Body Tabata™ HIIT XPRESS for free with Katie on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30am.
Although described as “high/intensity", this class is appropriate for all fitness levels because YOU choose how to do the exercises! It is a non-stop, never-get-bored workout which is scientifically proven to increase metabolism, endurance, and athletic performance, while also decreasing body fat. The Tabata formula is 20 seconds of high intensity exercise followed by 10 seconds of rest. The Series is repeated 8 times then moves on to another set of engaging sequences.
The class utilizes free weights (you choose your size weights), bands or tubing, kettlebells, and/or the mat. Options are provided if you don’t have these items at home. Routines can include squats, pushups, planks, leg lifts, marching/jogging in place, jumping jacks/low jacks, mountain climbers, standing core and balance, along with abdominal exercises.
We employ a wide variety of exercises from sports, the gym, yoga, and barre!
Modifications are always suggested so you can get the workout that is right for you. For instance, if pushups on the floor are not right for you, you can use a chair or counter or, instead, free weights to target the desired muscle groups.
The benefits of HIIT workouts can include the following:
1. Burning a lot of calories in a short amount of time
2. Increasing metabolic rate for hours after HIIT exercise.
3. Losing fat and gaining muscle
4. Improved oxygen consumption
6. Decreased heart rate and blood pressure
7. Reduced blood sugar
