Member Spotlight - Kim Miller
How long have you been a member at Ballard Health Club?
She has been a member for about 2 1/2 years.
Why do you work out?
Kim works out for lots of reasons! For her mental health, sleep, to stay healthy as she ages, and to build confidence.
When you are at the gym, what do you do to work out?
Although it’s changed some, she generally focuses on strength training. Kim also has a personal trainer a couple times a month which has been really helpful. At home, she tends to do yoga and cardio.
What at BHC has worked for you?
Small group personal training was working really well, but moving into the 1-on-1 format with a trainer has really helped push Kim, and help her learn enough to build her own routines when working out alone.
Why do you choose to work out at BHC?
“Mainly because it’s close to where I live. I also appreciate that it’s clean and has a lot of affordable membership options. I can switch up my membership as my fitness focus changes.”
What is your favorite thing to do?
“Dancing, hiking, yoga, running, and lifting are what I mainly cycle through and what I enjoy most really changes day to day. I really try to listen to what my body and brain need/want.”
What is one thing you’d like people to know?
“I know that people sometimes feel like a failure when they don’t hit their goals, especially if they are are starting their health and fitness journey, I’d just remind people to focus on doing what they can do each day, and to start with small wins. If all you have in you is one jumping jack, do that. Starting is often the hardest part and building consistency is far more important than being perfect.”
