FRESH AIR SUPPLY

According to the Centers for Disease Control, the most common way of contracting COVID-19 is by inhaling exhaled air or sneeze particles from an infected individual. In indoor facilities, the manner in which air is supplied and recirculated plays a critical role in treating air that may be infected with the virus.

How the air is supplied in the main gym at BHC is unusual.  The air is not recirculated through an HVAC (Air Conditioning) system as with most indoor commercial facilities.   At BHC, fresh air is forced into the main gym with a very large fan that is directly connected to an air shaft to the outside environment.  This air is brought in from the Northwest side of the building where air is cooler. With this system, a very high volume of fresh, outside air is continually pushed into the main gym. Several fans then push this new air to all the spaces within the main gym to keep the air fresh and new in this indoor environment. With the constant pressure from the large fan, air is then exhausted out through ceiling vents to the outside.

DISINFECTING EQUIPMENT

With a maximum of  5 members  assigned to each staff person at the Club, each staff person will observe what equipment is used by a member and then specifically disinfect each piece of equipment after the member’s session. The method used to disinfect equipment is to spray disinfectant on the surface and leave it wet for several minutes to allow it to kill viruses, germs and bacteria. Gym will also be disinfected after each block of Gym Access Sessions.

CLEANING STATIONS

There are new cleaning stations throughout the gym floor that contain disinfectant spray bottles, single use towels and hand sanitizer.   Members are encouraged to clean off equipment before use to remove any residual disinfectant and to clean equipment after use as a courtesy to fellow members.
