STP: 200+ miles in 1 day! Improvements in progress, BHC all over the place outside!

8/1/24

Dear Members,

Danny, Pat, and Sam at the finish line!

Last month I mentioned that Danny Westin and I would be attempting to complete the 200+ mile Seattle to Portland bike ride in mid-July. I’m happy to report we made it! Instead of doing the ride in two 100-mile days as most of the riders do (staying overnight in or around Centralia), we completed the whole ride in one very long day! Click HERE if you want to read more about this adventure.

In the last newsletter, I mentioned the improvements we planned for the club. If you have been in the main gym, you will see that we have started installing the advanced Eleiko Rack with Platforms. Two of the three units are in place as of today. We will continue our current focus list for the main gym: new racks, new bench presses, converting Studio Z into mat work / stretching room, and expanded dumbbell area with rowers moved to the cardio area. Once that list is done and the dust is settled, we have a few more improvements to add to the main gym I’ll be reporting on later.

Ivana coaching Zumba at Seafood Fest 2024!

If you attended this year’s Seafood Fest in Ballard, put on by the Ballard Alliance, you may have seen Ivana Petro from BHC on Sunday, July 14 on the main stage leading a Zumba class sponsored by Ballard Health Club. She was the first “act” to go on for Sunday’s lineup of high energy shows and bands!

Marianne coaching free yoga at Sunset Hill Park.

If you have ever wanted to experience Yoga, attending any of the 3 Yoga in the Park sessions we have per week throughout the summer is a great way to do that. Sessions are at 6:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays and 9:30am on Saturdays. We have been getting more and more people showing up for this, at times more than 40, and having it at Sunset Hill Park is a fantastic environment for this greatly fulfilling endeavor. Yoga in the Park is a community service of BHC and is free to the public. We do ask that you register beforehand on our classes webpage.

Showing the BHC bike jerseys down 200 miles of the state, BHC performing a Zumba class at Seafood Fest, and BHC at Yoga in the Park all summer long has the Club showing up all over the place this last month! It’s been great to get outside and experience the fantasic summer we have in the Pacific Northwest!

Thanks for being a member of the Club and see you there soon,
