More Improvements for our Main Gym

6/30/24

Dear Members,

I am writing this after completing a 100-mile bicycle ride today. Danny, who works at the front desk and is one of our personal trainers, and I are going to ride the Seattle to Portland bike ride (the “STP”) in a couple of weeks. The STP is a bit over 200 miles long. We need to go on these ridiculously long bike rides to get ready for it. The STP ride triggered us to create BHC bike jerseys available in our lobby Pro Shop. Danny and I will be wearing our BHC jerseys all the way to Portland.

We have some exciting news about a series of improvements we are starting this month in the main gym:

  • We have purchased 3 Eleiko Racks with Platforms to replace 3 of the black Rogue racks we have in the main gym. These racks and platforms are established as Olympic level equipment and are a major upgrade to what we have now. The racks themselves will be appealing to our members who engage in barbell exercises. In addition, everyone that uses the main gym will benefit from the engineering that went into the platforms that reduce the sound of barbells hitting the ground by a high margin.

  • With these new Eleiko lifting platforms being put into place in the main gym, we will convert Studio Z, (which currently has 2 low tech lifting platforms), back into the popular stretching and low props studio we had in place prior to COVID. The space in Studio Z will have mirrors reinstalled, mats, straps and bands, and lower weight dumbbells.

  • With Studio Z converted into a mat / bar-based work out area, we will move many of our rowers into the upper stretching room / cardio area and make that the rowing room.

  • Moving the rowers from the main floor up to the cardio area will create more floor space in the main gym area for dumbbell workouts.

  • We will be using 2 of the replaced Rogue racks from the main gym to replace the smaller Rogue Racks in Studio X.

  • We will be replacing the 4th Rogue rack in the main gym with 2 back-to-back Olympic level bench press racks. We will be using the replaced small Rogue racks for this purpose until the Olympic level racks come in.

The intent of all these changes is to improve options available to our members and to create more space where members may work out on their own.

If you have any comments or questions on what we are planning and want to communicate with me, please drop me an email at pat@ballardhealthclub.com and let me know.

Enjoy the Seattle Summer – it’s the best!
