Member Spotlight: Terri Lawrence

How long have you been a member at Ballard Health Club? 

I joined BHC in June 2024 and haven’t looked back since—well, maybe I glance back to see if I left my water bottle, but I’ve been showing up and staying active ever since!

Why do you work out? 

I work out to keep my body strong, flexible, and aligned—basically, to ensure I can keep up with the life I want to live. Whether it’s tackling rugged hikes in the summer, swooshing down challenging ski runs in the winter, or just wrangling a stubborn stacked grocery cart, I want to feel ready for anything life throws my way.

When you are at the gym, what do you do to work out?

I’m a big fan of the in-person classes! You’ll usually spot me sweating (and maybe questioning my life choices) during Anne Marie’s Cycling class, digging deep in Total Body Strong 60 with Rachael, or fine-tuning my form in Total Body Strong 45 with Brenda. Basically, if there’s a class where I’m breathing heavily and having fun, I’m there!

What at BHC has worked for you for attaining your goals?

For me, it’s all about consistency and the fantastic instructors at BHC. The gym makes it easy to stick with my routine thanks to its open hours and reliable schedule. The instructors are not only knowledgeable but also great at helping me modify exercises when I need it. (Spoiler: I often need it.)

Why do you choose to work out at BHC?

BHC has that magic mix of a welcoming atmosphere, friendly faces, and zero judgment. The members and staff make it easy to show up and work hard without feeling self-conscious. Add in the variety of workout options and the spacious facility, and it’s basically my fitness happy place.

What is your favorite piece of equipment, exercise, or class to do in the gym or at home?
I can’t pick just one! Total Body Strong 60, Cycling, and yoga are my go-to's because they hit that sweet spot: strength training, cardio, and flexibility. It’s like a well-rounded meal for my body—minus the calories and with way more sweating.

Anything else you’d like to add?
The staff and instructors at BHC keep me coming back for more. They’re not just knowledgeable and approachable; they’re inspiring. It’s like having a team of fitness cheerleaders who help me be the best version of myself—one rep, pedal, or stretch at a time.
