Member Spotlight - Robyn Austin
How long have you been a member at Ballard Health Club?
I came to Ballard Health Club in December 2021. I followed my trainer, Ivana, from a previous gym and fell in love with BHC right away!
What is your favorite piece of equipment or exercise to do in the gym?
Landmine press. It is a tool that I had not used until recently, but it makes you feel really strong and gives you that nice deltoid pump (think She Hulk vibes). Also, you can use it in other ways for deadlifts and rows so it's super versatile to get a full body workout with one piece of equipment.
Why do you work out?
I used to work out to try to get my body to look a certain way and was always disappointed but now I do it to challenge myself to see what my body can do. Every time I hit a new personal record, I get a sense of achievement I didn’t have in the gym before.
What do you do to work out?
Lift weights 2-3x a week and mix in a barre class once a week to get those little stabilizing muscles.
What in the gym has worked for you in attaining your goals?
Working with a trainer that understands my needs and goals really changed my fitness journey. I now have the confidence and ability to reach goals I never thought possible on my own.
Why do you choose to work out at BHC?
BHC is the most welcoming and friendly gym I have ever been to. The staff are wonderful but so are the other members! I never felt comfortable in group fitness settings until I came to BHC because everyone is so supportive.
Anything else you'd like to add?
Who wouldn’t want to work out with ballroom lighting!?! So fancy!
